Acclaimed by Opera News as ‘...a coloristic tour de force’, ‘among the top accompanists of her generation’, pianist Myra Huang regularly performs in recitals and chamber music concerts in notable venues around the world including Carnegie Hall, the U.S. Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the Metropolitan Museum, the Seoul National Arts Center, the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society Concerts, the ‘University of Chicago Presents’ Series, the Spivey Hall Concert Series, the Celebrity Series of Boston and the Gilmore Festival. Huang has served on the music staffs of both the Washington National Opera and New York City Opera, where she was Head of Music Staff from 2011–2013. She has worked with such eminent conductors as Plácido Domingo, Riccardo Frizza, Richard Hickox, Philippe Jordan, Christopher Hogwood, Daniel Oren, Robert Spano, Patrick Summers and Marco Armiliato. Other engagements of note include tenures with the Palau de les Arts in Valencia (Spain), where she worked closely with artistic director Lorin Maazel and director Zubin Mehta on repertoire including the complete Wagner Ring Cycle; with the Operalia competition directed by Plácido Domingo, which led her to perform in world-renowned opera houses such as the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala (Milan), Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris), the National Centre for the Performing Arts Opera Hall (Beijing) and Teatro Real (Madrid); and with the Mariinksy Theater, on their festival tour to Mexico City and Frutillar (Chile) in art song recitals with bass Dmitry Grigoriev. Huang is a frequent visiting artist at the Houston Grand Opera’s HGO Studio for young artists and the University of Texas Butler Opera Center, as well as a staff member at the Music Academy of the West, where she trains and coaches young opera singers and pianists.
